Getting to the clinic from Rock Hill
About 35 miles, about 50 minutes. Take SC-5 east out of Rock Hill toward Van Wyck, pick up US-521 north for a short stretch, then NC-75 (Waxhaw Highway) east through Waxhaw into Monroe. NC-75 meets US-74 on the west side of town; the clinic is on W Roosevelt Blvd, which is US-74.
Rock Hill sits on the I-77 freight corridor, and a lot of the drivers we see from York County run distribution and regional routes that start before dawn. A Friday or Saturday late-morning slot fits around that: leave after the morning run, exam at noon, home by two.

Our new Charlotte facility is being finalised. Until it opens, our FMCSA-certified examiner holds clinic in Monroe on Fridays and Saturdays, inside an established medical practice with truck parking on site.

Covers the exam, the urine test, your certificate and the National Registry submission. Nothing else to pay.
What happens at the exam
Arrive ten minutes early for paperwork. The examiner checks vision, hearing, blood pressure and pulse, runs the urine test (a medical screen, not a drug test), goes through your history and medications, and does the physical. Most drivers are finished in 30 to 45 minutes. If you meet the FMCSA standards, your certificate is printed before you leave and submitted to the National Registry the same day. The Registry passes the result to the SCDMV electronically; there is nothing to mail in.
Bring your CDL or photo ID, a written list of your medications and doses, glasses or contacts if you drive with them, hearing aids if you use them, your current card if you are recertifying, and your CPAP compliance report or a specialist’s letter if either applies to you.

Do I need to take my new medical card to the South Carolina DMV?
Our examiner submits your result to the FMCSA National Registry the same day, and the Registry passes it electronically to the SCDMV. South Carolina no longer asks CDL holders to hand in the paper certificate. Keep your copy in the cab anyway, and check your SCDMV record after a few days to see the new expiry date.
What does it cost?
$79 cash or $81.77 by card, and that is everything: the examination, the urine test, the certificate and the National Registry filing. If you were already booked at a quoted price, you pay the price you were quoted.
